Off to the Theater!

Today our first grade class went to see the play "Skippyjon Jones" at UW-Whitewater's Young Auditorium.  We were able to attend this show thanks to the Arts4All Program and eNasco who sponsored our tickets.  We also had a very special guest come with us, Mrs. Dahl, who is Mrs. Johnson's mom.

Prior to attending the play, we read different books from the "Skippyjon Jones" series to help familiarize ourselves with the characters and plot.

While we traveled to Whitewater, we listened to different "Skippyjon Jones" books using the car's cd player.  We listened to "Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble" and "Skippyjon Jones, Lost in Spice".

We had fun looking at the different statues and sculptures outside of the Young Auditorium.  We thought it would be great to pose in front of the sad face.  Brian was pretending to be a statue.

We had a good time exploring the outside and inside of the Young Auditorium.  We had to walk up a lot of stairs to find our seats in the balcony.

The class waited patiently for the play to begin.  We loved all of the catchy songs, bright costumes, and silly jokes.  Our favorite character was Skippyjon Jones.  At the end of the play, we learned that it is important to follow your dreams and that it is good to have a powerful imagination just like Skippyjon Jones.
