Holiday Card Pen Pal Project

This holiday season the CLC Breakfast Club is again participating in the Holiday Card Pen Pal Project by Projects By Jen.  We were assigned 29 other schools across the United States and Canada as our holiday pen pals and we also picked to send a card to a children's hospital in Wisconsin.  This year's theme for our cards was snow globes.

Members of the Breakfast Club worked hard this week to create the cards.  We used construction paper, crayons, and paint to decorate our  cards.  We put our cards in the mail on Friday so we hope our pen pals will receive their cards soon.  We are looking forward to receiving cards from our pen pals too so we can learn more about their classes and where they live.

First we made our snow globes by drawing different winter scenes with crayons.

Next we used paintbrushes to add "snow" to our snow globes.

The next step was using the white paint to add "snow" to our trees for the front cover.

We then wrote a holiday greeting on the front of our cards.

CLC Breakfast Club Celebrates Thanksgiving!

During the week of Thanksgiving the boys and girls in CLC Breakfast Club participated in different math and literacy activities that related to turkeys and Thanksgiving.  All of the students agreed that they were most thankful for their families.

Keven made a turkey using different math facts.

Students had fun making the turkeys.

We went on a turkey hunt.  Students found feather hidden around the room and had to come and answer a math question on their whiteboards.

If students correctly answered their question, they were able to glue a feather on the big turkey.

We named the finished turkey Fred.  Students did a great job finding all of the feathers and answering the math questions.

We  used the smartboard to play a math turkey game.

We also used the smartboard to play a Thanksgiving word game.
