About Mrs. Johnson

Hello! My name is Kari Johnson and I am the ELL teacher at Luther Elementary. I teach English to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. This is my seventh year in the district and I love working with my students, their families, and everyone in the Luther community!

Besides teaching at Luther I am busy with lots of other school related activities. This is my sixth year as the JV girls’ tennis coach for Fort Atkinson High School. In the spring, I coach the JV boys' tennis team. I am also in charge of the Luther Mileage Club where students in kindergarten through third grade can increase their fitness levels by running or walking around the Luther Loop. I like to participate in different committees that help improve both Luther and the district. These committees include: technology, diversity, and holiday sharing. This will also be my third year of running the Luther Scoop newspaper.

I love coaching tennis!  ~  Me encanta como entrenador de tenis!

I graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2006, with degrees in Elementary/Middle Education and English as a Second Language. My background in Spanish has helped me communicate with students and families. I also received my Master of Science in Education from UW-Whitewater in May 2009.

Before attending UW-Whitewater I graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 2002. My family is from Beaver Dam and I frequently return home to visit. When I’m not at Luther I like to participate in sports like tennis, softball, and volleyball or take my dog, Lexi, for a walk.  I also like going to different sporting events like Badger football and basketball games, and visiting different major league baseball parks.
