Family Swim Night

On Friday my students and their families were invited to the Fort Atkinson Middle School to enjoy a night of  swimming.  This was my first time hosting such an event and it was a lot of fun.  40 people packed the pool and many of my students had their first experience swimming in a pool with deeper water.  All of the parents and children said they had a good time and would like to have another family night soon.  Check out some of the photos.

Brittany and Bernardo had lots of fun in the water.

Miriam did a great job swimming!

Teshana and her mom Yessica help Brianna get used to the water.

Stacy had fun using the different pool noodles.

Mario did a great job swimming in the deeper water.

Diana shows off the different sports balls that the students could play with in the pool.

The moms and some of their younger children enjoyed watching the big kids splash in the pool.

Hector and Karina's family had a wonderful time at the pool!

Kimberly's dad, Luis, helped her practice swimming.

Some of the older kids had fun playing basketball in the pool.

It was a packed pool!

Karina dries off with her snowman towel after a great night of swimming.

First Few Weeks of School

The first few weeks of school have been very busy.  It has been fun meeting new students and catching up with students from last year. Check out some photos of some recent events.

Alan came and checked out all the fun things in my classroom.

Gibson had fun reading with me and talking about different pictures during his kindergarten evaluation.

Brian looked very handsome in his suit and was ready for school picture day.

Brittany, Miriam, Evelin, and Evelyn were very excited to get their book bags.  Each night they take them home and read a book that we practiced in class together.

Milo noticed that Natanael and I had matching shoes so he took a picture.

Ashley and Jasmine tried out our school's new iPads during a writing activity.

PBIS Assembly

Today everyone at our school attended a special welcome back assembly that focused on the district's new PBIS behavior program.

Evelyn shows off her new "I am ready to learn." t-shirt.

Alan shows his teachers he is ready to learn.

Fifth graders Diana, Jaqui, and Teshana are excited about the new PBIS program.
Yusi remembers to have a level 0 voice at the assembly.

Stacy reminds other students to use a level 0 voice.

All of the students looked great in their t-shirts.  They were ready to learn!

Hector and Orvil will work hard to be respectful, be responsible, and safe.
