Today we had our second annual Bilingual Bash at Luther. All students who participated in the ACCESS test came together to celebrate their hard work during the school year and for their efforts on the test. Students were recognized for knowing two languages and applauded for their effort in learning to be fluent in both languages. 55 students were able to attend the party. Check out how we celebrated:
Students began the celebration by enjoying an ice cream treat with their friends.
While students finished their ice cream treat they were able to work on a word search that incorporated different words related to being bilingual.
Then students were invited into the board room where we watched a movie where all of the students were the stars. The video demonstrated to students that they are capable of anything in this world and could go great places because of their bilingual skills. Students enjoyed seeing themselves and their classmates on the big screen.
Check out the video:
After the video, students participated in different team games and raffles to win some coveted prizes.
After the games and raffle, students received different certificates and pencils for meeting their language goals during the school year and on the ACCESS test.
The first graders proudly show off their certificates.
The second graders display their certificates.
The third grade girls were all smiles as they accepted their awards.
Moises was a proud fourth grader!
Pedro, Moises, Amelia, Jasmin, Christian, and Bryan (not pictured) were the students who made the most progress for each grade level.
Edward, Jorge, Diana, Michelle and Adrian all received high scores and worked hard throughout the school year. Because of this, they received a special certificate and commemorative photo. These students have proven that they are truly bilingual and proficient in more than one language.
Alexis, Jaqueline, Katharina, Stacy, Erika, and Julio (not pictured) all received a perfect score on their ACCESS test. This is really hard to do and all of these students have worked really hard this school year. They also received a special certificate, pencil, and commemorative photo.
It was a great celebration and all of my students worked super hard this school year. I could not be more proud of them!!!
